I was born in A Coruña, Spain, in 1979. After finishing my studies of Civil Engineering at University of A Coruña, I was granted a fellowship from Fundación Barrié, which allowed me to study a Master’s of Science at MIT, USA, where I moved in 2003. At MIT I worked on environmental fluid mechanics and sediment transport with Ole Madsen, and I obtained a PhD in 2009. After finishing my PhD, I moved to France. Between 2009 and 2011, I did a first postdoc on tissue biomechanics at Institut Curie in Paris, working with Françoise Brochard-Wyart and Christophe Clanet. Between 2011 and 2014, I worked as a postdoc with Abdul Barakat at LadHyX at Ecole Polytechnique (Palaiseau, France), studying nanoparticle-endothelial cell interactions and other topics in cell mechanics. During the academic year 2014-2015 I did a third postdoc on plant biomechanics with Emmanuel de Langre (Ecole Polytechnique) and Paul-Henry Cournède (Ecole Centrale Paris). In 2015 I obtained my current faculty position at University of Lorraine, and I work at the university’s site of Metz since September 2015.
